How is today going for you? Is it matching up with your hopes, expectations, and/or dreams?
We really want to know.
This question is important, because so many of us have a good sense of what we want.
We even have Pinterest boards filled with particulars!
We have exact numbers in mind for what we want to earn.
We have movies we come back to again and again because the relationships portrayed are #relationshipgoals.
We work hard at these goals.
We keep a positive mind set – as best we can.
But for so many of us, getting to these goals just isn't happening fast enough.
[Cue the bugles or the superhero music...]
It's time for the big reveal as to why it can be so hard to get what we want, even when we try really hard.
Take a look at this image below. You're that little stick-figure climbing, falling, jumping, meditating, cursing, hoping – trying so hard to get to that beautiful thing you want way up there.
But the dream is still out of reach.
We've been working in this field – helping folks rewire their brains to be better at feelings so they can finally get what they want – for nearly twenty years.
And you know what's became painfully obvious during that time?
What you want isn't out of reach
- or weird
- or selfish
- or "too much"
– or unrealistic.
It's just currently beyond your nervous system capacity. On a sub-conscious level, what you want just simply reads as "out of the comfort zone".
Remember: your nervous system is not an idiot.
It's whole job is to protect you from anything that might be threatening.
(Even your own dreams.)
So what do we do?
Well, we get a ladder.
It's not made of wood or steel, or punishing work, or random luck.
It's made of neurochemicals.
Your brain utilizes many systems, but the Survival, Emotional, and Executive Systems are super key, and these are each run by certain sets of neurochemicals.
One of these systems (and it's neurochemicals) is reaally f-ing good at getting what you want.
Can you guess which one it is?
That's right, your Executive System!
Whatever it is that you want:
connection
money
time
freedom
creativity
you name it
It's the Executive System that's going to get you there.
The best part is that you can build your own ladder.
We can give you the blueprint.
But every human has the innate ingredients to build their own neurochemical ladder to the land of plenty.
How?
Mixing metaphors here, it's a good idea to start thinking of your brain like parts on a car. Each part has particular needs if it's going to run well. When we service our brain regularly with the brain equivalent of oil, gas, and tire pressure, it can take us to magnificent places!
Each system in the brain needs daily servicing.
Survival System:
Keep it "oiled up" with physical safety, food, water, movement, etc..
When it overheats, cool it back down with body-based or orientation-based support tools like those we teach in our classes.
Emotional System:
Keep it "gassed up" with regular expressing, witnessing, and empathy around feelings.
When it overheats, bring in the tenderness, curiosity, and welcome touch.
Executive System:
Get going!!
Dream up a destination and follow your map!
When we're diligent with our brain maintenance, we naturally climb the ladder to our Executive System – where not only can we imagine what we want, we are a neurochemical match for both creating it and receiving it.
Everything we do here at the Center is focused on helping folks build their ladder.
You could pick anything from our menu and get started right away.
